In Topic this week the children have been writing a recount about their trip to Littlehampton, including their favourite memory of the trip. They also used the senses plans (where they recorded what they saw, felt, heard, smelt and tasted at the beach) to write their very first poem. We were so impressed with the results and we feel very proud of our year group full of poets! Later in the week, the children completed a Design & Technology project, where they designed and built their own free-standing structure to be used as a plant/pot stand and then finally, they then evaluated their model.
In Maths this week the children learnt about time. Firstly, they sequenced the days of the week, then moved on to looking at one day and ordered the events in that day, using vocabulary such as before, after, earlier, later and noticing whether events occurred in the morning, afternoon or evening. Towards the end of the week, they were challenged with learning how to tell the time to the hour and half hour, and they worked really hard at this! See if you can test them at home and when the clock is at o’clock or half past, can they tell you what time it is and even better…can they explain how they know that?
We are very proud of our fantastic stars of the week, who demonstrated exemplary behaviour, positive attitudes to learning, resilience and no limits. They are…
